Black Hawk Down was a project started on GoT (gathering.tweakers.net).
The initiative was taken by r0ck3t, later Snow_King joined him and helped him with getting all things runnin'

How was this movie made?

This movie was captured on a modified version of El Alamein.
All the objects were removed and only the Airstrip from the Allies remained.
Snow_King expanded the existing town near the North Base
When you see the convoi leaving town you will notice the original village if you watch carefully!

The whole movie was captured with a Canon MV400i (Dad's cam ;) ) on a TV-Out from a Gigabyte Radeon 8500 Pro.
This material was sent back to Snow_King's PC through FireWire.
Snow_King did the main capturing of the movie.
In a later stage r0ck3t captured some material with some people, this were only a few small scenes, like when you see the
RPG hitting the tailrotor.

r0ck3t edited the movie with Sonic Foundy Vegas 4.0 and used Viritual dub for cutting the raw material in pieces.

Some nice info

• The raw material of Black Hawk Down was 1 hour and 19 minutes and had a size of 16.8 gigabytes!
• The raw material was sent on 20 cd's and one 3.2 gigabyte harddisk to r0ck3t.
• It took over a month to edit the movie.
• Capturing all the scenes and doin' it right took 4 hours.
• The ingame communication was done with TeamSpeak 2, Snow_King leaded everything in-game.
• It took Snow_King a few days to create the whole city in the map Black Hawk Down and rendering all the shadows.
• The map Black Hawk Down was 23.5 megabytes in size.
